This kit is used for the darkening of stainless steel and cast-iron. After darkening the resulting surface has good anti-corrosion properties, and can be used as a finishing coating.
It is not necessary to use electrodes for the process, or any power supplies: just dip the item in the black oxidation solution for a few minutes, then remove it and dip it in the hardener (for steel darkening).
Unlike hot oxidation, which is carried out in boiling alkaline solution, in the process of dark oxidation there is no need to use foul smelling chemicals, there are no harmful emissions, and the process itself is carried out at room temperature. To achieve a very deep color, the item must first be treated with "universal cleaner" and then with "chemical activator" solution.
For the removal of old grease stains, deep corrosion streaks, and rust, it is recommended that the item is treated with "electro-polishing compound" solution.

Each kit includes a detailed User Manual with a step-by-step description of the preparation and execution processes of metallization. All the chemicals included in the kits are preliminarily weighed and packed in the required proportions, so all that is needed in order to get the working electrolyte solution is to dissolve those packets in distilled water, in the prescribed sequence.
GENERAL DATA. Working temperature of the solution: 15-25°C. Duration of immersion in the darkening solution: 5-15 minutes. Duration of immersion in the hardener: 5-7 minutes. Before carrying out the process it is necessary to check the density of the solution using an aerometer, and when adding the hardener, adjust the density level to at least 1.1 g/ml. With 5 liters of solution you can darken an overall surface area of 12-13 m2. Upon the depletion of the solution and a decrease in color saturation, the process duration may be increased. During the processing of the solution, all the components are depleted homogenously, but iron bonds are accumulated in the solution, which interfere in the process of darkening. Therefore, solution replenishment is not feasible, so after usage the solution has changed completely.
