The "Bright decorative chrome" kit is used for applying bright chrome plating to different metals and alloys, including steel, stainless steel, copper, "primary copper" coating, "bright copper" coating, nickel, "bright nickel" coating, "electrolysis nickel" coating, "primary nickel" coating, "copy-chrome" and many others.
Chrome plating is applied to protect metal from corrosion, to increase its hardness and durability, and to provide a high reflective capacity. Chrome itself has outstanding chemical durability, but due to the high porosity of chromium coating, without a layer of copper and nickel on the surface, chrome coating alone does not provide reliable protection from corrosion to the base metal. Therefore, to obtain adequate coverage at the same time as having high corrosion resistance and mirror gloss, chrome is usually plated on a layer of bright copper and bright nickel. With this combination, chrome coating, in spite of its low thickness, has both a mirror effect, and outstanding decorative and anticorrosive qualities.

NEW! Progress in the field of chrome plating! The composition of the electrolyte includes specially developed additives that expand the operational capacity of the electrolyte, and make the process, from the perspective of the end result, simpler and more accessible to the first time user. Each kit includes special heat isolation floats to minimize harmful vapors, and reduce the convective heat transfer of the electrolyte. It is necessary, for chrome plating, to use a power supply capable in order to provide a current directly proportional to the total surface area.
During the plating of aluminium and its alloys, it is necessary to treat the material in "zincate activator" reagent and then apply the "primary copper" coating (not included in the kit). With zinc, lead, copper and copper-lead alloys, the surface of the product must be treated with the chemical reagent "universal cleaner". After that, you should apply the "primary copper" coating. After applying a layer of copper on the surface of the product, it is recommended that you apply the "bright nickel" coating, in order to increase the gloss and durability of the finish (not included in the kit).

Each kit includes a detailed User Manual with a step-by-step description of the preparation and execution processes of metallization. All the chemicals included in the kits are preliminarily weighed and packed in the required proportions, so all that is needed in order to get the working electrolyte solution is to dissolve those packets in distilled water, in the prescribed sequence.
GENERAL DATA. Working temperature of the solution is 35-42°C. Duration of process in bright decorative chrome solution: 2-4 minutes. Rate of bright decorative chrome plating at cathode current density of 12-18 A/dm2. During the process the electrode must be placed in the chemical resistant polypropylene fabric cover, and in terms of area it must be twice as large as the size of the coated surface.
During bright decorative chrome plating, the electrode isn’t etched, but electrolyte depleted. A bright decorative chrome electrolyte is self-regulating, and during its operation remains at the bottom of the precipitate, which slowly dissolves, keeping the electrolyte in working condition.
Using a 5-liter kit you can plate a bright decorative chrome coating thickness of 1micron to a total area of 14 m2. After coating an area of 2.0-2.2 m2, the electrolyte must be adjusted by adding a 17-18 oz. chemical reagent "levelling additive."
The electrolyte is universal and can be used to apply a brilliant decorative coating and durable, hard coating. A hard-wearing chrome coating, as opposed to a decorative one, has no gloss but it has a high level of hardness and durability.
