The "FLASH BEST COPPER" kit is used to apply the primary adhesive copper coating to various metals and alloys, considered to be ‘complex’ during coating, including zinc, zinc and copper-lead alloys, steel/stainless steel, aluminium (after zincate treatment or the application of "primary nickel") and others.

Ideally suited as a primary metallic coat before the application of such coatings as "bright red copper", "bright nickel", "copy-chrome" etc, it significantly increases the adhesion of the applied coating with the base metal. The "flash best copper" coating has a better quality surface structure, higher density, and higher corrosion resistance than the coatings achieved using other copper plating processes. Using the electrolyte to apply primary copper-plating you can deposit a semi-opus copper coating, with a dense, low porous structure and excellent adhesive properties.

It is best suited as a single coat decorative finish on such zinc and copper-lead alloy items as lures, buttons, belt buckles, handles, lamps etc. After copper-plating, you can blacken the coating or, using "compounds for copper surface finishing", you can cover the copper with patina, i.e. to "age" it, giving it the look of a corrosion ridden surface, colored from a bluish-red to a dark green.

Before applying "flash best copper" coating, it is recommended that you preliminarily treat the surface with "universal cleaner" chemical.

Requirement

• Power transformer (can use a 12V automobile battery)

Each kit includes a detailed User Manual with a step-by-step description of the preparation and execution processes of metallization. All the chemicals included in the kits are preliminarily weighed and packed in the required proportions, so all that is needed in order to get the working electrolyte solution is to dissolve those packets in distilled water, in the prescribed sequence.

GENERAL DATA: Working temperature for electrolyte; 50-60°C. Cathode current density: 0.9-5.2 A/dm². Cathode current density while stirring the electrolyte: 1.1-5.2 A/dm². Cathode current density, without stirring (displacement): from 0.5 to 2.1 A/dm². Deposition rate at current density of 3 A/dm²: 14-15 microns per hour. During the process of bright copper-plating the electrode dissolution rate is very low. One (1) copper electrode (150mm x 220mm x 1mm), as included in the kit, is sufficient to coat a surface area of 4-4.3 m², with a thickness of 5-6 microns. While using the 5 liter kit, after coating a surface area of 3-3.5 m², the electrolyte has to be replenished, by adding 180-200g of "crystal copper salt" (chemical "b") and 35-40g of "brightness additive".
