The "BRIGHT ZINC PLATING" kit is used to apply zinc coatings to steel/stainless steel (after activation), cast iron, copper, bronze, copper-lead alloys (after the application of the "primary copper" coating) and on various other surfaces.

The ease of use, low cost, high gloss and excellent corrosion resistance provide a wide range of uses for this corrosion protection coating. This is also enhanced by the number of unique properties of this metal. The zinc coating, being electrode based, for example, in relation to steel, protects the metal by not only protecting the surface against environmental influences, but also, electro-chemically, fulfilling the role of galvanic protection.

Zinc starts decaying before the process of oxidation reaches the steel base material., You may even say that it sacrifices itself for the benefit of the steel. Therefore, even with a damaged coating on the item in use, it does not allow the base material to become vulnerable to corrosion for a long time. Because of the high content of iron in the composition of steel, a strong metallic bond is formed between zinc and steel, which gives the zinc coating a high level of adhesion to the steel surface.

After the application of the bright zinc plating, the resulting surface has excellent levels of gloss, and can be used as finishing coat or as a primer for the painting of the surface in different colors, using the method of chemical passivation.

Zinc deposited using galvanization, even when not subjected to passivation, forms an oxide film on its surface and in doing so provides extra protection for the coating.

Usage

This kit is used for the application of a bright zinc plating, or as a base before adding a zinc coating (in various colors) using the method of chemical passivation.

Each kit includes a detailed User Manual with a step-by-step description of the preparation and execution processes of metallization. All the chemicals included in the kits are preliminarily weighed and packed in the required proportions, so all that is needed in order to get the working electrolyte solution is to dissolve those packets in distilled water, in the prescribed sequence.

GENERAL DATA. Working temperature of the solution: 18-32C. Density of cathode current: 0.8-4.5 A/dm2. Rate of deposition of zinc plating at a current density of 1 A/dm2: 0.3 microns per minute or 18-20 micron per hour. Rate of deposition of zinc plating at a current density of 4 A/dm2: 1.1 microns per minute. The electrolyte is not consumed during the process of coating, whereas the metal is compensated for by the dissolution of the zinc electrode. One zinc electrode (155mm x 220mm) is sufficient to coat a surface area of 11.5-12 m2 with a coating thickness of 10 microns. Using a 5 liter kit, after the application of zinc plating to an area of 2.5-3 m2 and when the deposition rate falls, it is necessary to replenish the solution, adding 25-27ml of "ZINCATE A" chemical and 50-52 ml of "BRILLIANCE ADDITIVE" chemical.
The electrode must be placed in the chemically resistant polypropylene fabric cover and its area must be twice the area of the processed item. After the implementation of the process the electrode must be extracted from the electrolyte and stored in a container in distilled or de-mineralized water. To achieve high quality coatings and to extend the period of service of the electrolyte, from time to time filter the water.
