The "BRIGHT RED COPPER" kit is used for applying a bright copper plating, having enhanced reflective properties and better covering power. The applied copper coating can be used as a final coating or as an intermediate layer during the process of glossy nickel plating, or three-ply chrome-plating.
Using the "BRIGHT RED COPPER" kit you can apply bright copper coating to different metals and alloys including iron, tin, nickel, "Chemical nickel" plating, "bright nickel", copper, bronze, brass, "basic copper" coatings and others. It can also be applied to steel/stainless steel after the application of the "bright nickel" coating. It can be used on zinc, lead, copper-lead or copper-zinc alloys after the application of the "basic copper’ coating. It can also be used on aluminium after zincate treatment and the application of "basic copper’ coating.
This kit is widely used as an intermediate coating during the process of decorative chrome-plating. It is also widely used for electrotyping, for making samples from pure copper. For the purpose, the surface of the item, which you want to copy, is treated with a wax coating, which is then coated with a conductive lacquer. After this, using a low current, copper coating is deposited on the surface, forming an exact copy of the initial item.
This kit is also indispensible for those who restore and re-establish copper coating on parts which have small surface defects. If the surface contains deep ruptures, dents, chips etc, it is necessary to firstly solder these areas. To enhance brightness, it is recommended that the surface of the part be polished before applying the copper coating.

Each kit includes a detailed User Manual with a step-by-step description of the preparation and execution processes of metallization. All the chemicals included in the kits are preliminarily weighed and packed in the required proportions, so all that is needed in order to get the working electrolyte solution is to dissolve those packets in distilled water, in the prescribed sequence.
GENERAL DATA: Working electrolyte temperature 18-27°C. Cathode current density 1.8-8.0 A/dm2. Deposition speed of copper plating at current density of 4-4.5A/dm2 – 55-60 microns per hour. Deposition speed during stirring and at working density of 7-8 A/dm2 – 90-95 microns per hour. During the process of bright red copper plating, the electrolyte is not consumed at all, whereas the copper in the solution is replenished as a result of the dissolution of the electrode. One (1) copper electrode (250mm x 150mm x 5mm) is sufficient to coat a surface area of 14-15 m2 with a coating thickness of 20 microns. While using the 5 liter kit, after the application of copper coating on an area of 3-3.5 m2 and when the brightness level of the coating starts to decrease, the electrolyte must be replenished by adding 23-25 ml of the chemical agent "Brightness additive". The area of the copper electrode must be twice as large as the surface area of the cathode (Area of the item and the suspensions immersed in the electrolyte). During the process the electrode must be placed in the chemical resistant polypropylene fabric cover. To enhance the quality of the final coating, it is recommended that the electrolyte is constantly stirred, mechanically or by sparging (bubble aeration), using a mini-pump for the purpose (included in the kit), and installing it on the bottom of the storage container.
