"BRIGHT NICKEL" metallization kit

Excellent shine and high elasticity of the nickel coating!
No harmful emissions during the process!
Metal plating at lower temperatures and currents!

The "BRILLIANT NICKEL" kit is used to apply highly glossy, elastic nickel coatings. The electrolyte "brilliant nickel", used for this purpose, has excellent levelling properties, and unlike other electrolytes used for nickel plating, allows you to apply glossy nickel coatings at lower temperatures and currents.

Using the "BRILLIANT NICKEL" kit you can apply glossy nickel coatings to such materials as steel/stainless steel, copper, bronze, brass, "primary copper" coating, "bright red copper", "primary nickel", "chemical nickel" and many others. To apply this coating to zinc, lead, copper-lead and copper-zinc alloys, first coat them with the "primary copper" coating. To apply to aluminium , first carry out the zincate treatment, or use after the application of "primary nickel". It can also be used as a finishing coat, or as an intermediate layer before chrome-plating.

When carrying out the brilliant nickel processing, constantly filter and stir the electrolyte. For this purpose, use the pump with polypropylene filter, as included in the kit. Use the mini-pump, included in the kit, to stir the electrolyte, connecting it and lowering it to the bottom of the storage container. Carrying out the process of brilliant nickel-plating, while permanently stirring and filtering the electrolyte, significantly enhances the quality of the deposition and allows the achievement of a dense, low porous nickel coating, with a mirror like shine and high elasticity. The surface structure of brilliant nickel coating exceeds the quality of coatings achieved using other similar deposition electrolytes. The nickel coating can be applied as the final decorative coating, or as a primary coating for subsequent mirror like decorative chrome-plating.

If the processed surface has minor defects, dents, cracks, unevenness etc, it is recommended that these areas are initialled filled with soldering, and the "primary copper" coating can be applied. After this, level the surface with the help of a grinder and treat it with universal cleaner, before applying the "bright red copper" coating and then a coat of "brilliant nickel". The copper coating can be additionally polished after the application of bright red copper. Nickel has outstanding adhesion to copper, but also has a very faint yellowish tint, and polishing the copper coating before the application of nickel will therefore give the resulting surface a mirror like shine, which will be the same as the shine of a chrome-plated surface.

Each kit contains a pack of heat insulated floats used to lower the solution’s heat emissions, and the evaporation of the chemicals.

Usage

The "BRILLIANT NICKEL" kit is used to apply glossy, low porous, elastic nickel coatings to steel/stainless steel, copper, nickel and their alloys etc. It is ideally suited for finishing and restoring the coating on car parts, motorcycles etc.

Each kit includes a detailed User Manual with a step-by-step description of the preparation and execution processes of metallization. All the chemicals included in the kits are preliminarily weighed and packed in the required proportions, so all that is needed in order to get the working electrolyte solution is to dissolve those packets in distilled water, in the prescribed sequence.

GENERAL DATA. Working temperature of the electrolyte: 48-58°C. Cathode current density: 1-6 A/dm2. Rate of nickel plating at cathode current density of 1-1.5 A/dm2: 14-16 microns per hour. Rate of nickel plating while constantly stirring and at current density of 4-4.5 A/dm2: 46-48 microns per hour. The electrolyte consumption is nearly zero during the process of brilliant nickel-plating, because the nickel is compensated for by the dissolution of the nickel electrode. One nickel electrode (155mm x 220mm x 1mm) is sufficient to coati a surface area of 6.5-7 m2 with a thickness of 5 microns. During the process the electrode must be placed in the chemical resistant polypropylene fabric cover and in terms of area, it must be twice as large as the size of the coated surface. Using the electrolyte, after the application of nickel coating to an area of 10-11 m2 (or after 1000 ampere/hours of passed electricity), the electrolyte must be replenished, adding 80-90ml of "brightness additive" and 90-100ml of "levelling additive". For de-greasing and cleaning the surface, before processing, treat the item with "universal cleaner".
