Under normal conditions, an aluminium surface has a hardly soluble oxide film, which poses certain problems for the application of metallic coating. The elimination of this oxide film requires zincate treatment. For this purpose it is necessary to use zincate activator.
When you treat aluminium with zincate activator solution, you etch the oxide film from its surface and simultaneously apply the thinnest zinc layer. After the electrolytic immersion of aluminium for copper-plating, the zinc is bound in the solution, and the copper deposits onto a chemically clean aluminium surface.
Technological process for the bright nickel-plating of aluminium surfaces:
- Preliminary polishing, degreasing
- Treatment with solution "UNIVERSAL CLEANER"
- Washing
- Treatment with solution "ETCHING AND CLARIFYING SOLUTIONS"
- Washing
- Treatment with solution "ZINCATE ACTIVATOR" (25-30 seconds)
- Washing
- Clarification in the solution "CLARIFYING SOLUTION" (5-10 seconds)
- Washing
- Copper-plating in the electrolyte "PRIMARY COPPER"
- Washing

Each kit includes a detailed User Manual with a step-by-step description of the preparation and execution processes of metallization. All the chemicals included in the kits are preliminarily weighed and packed in the required proportions, so all that is needed in order to get the working electrolyte solution is to dissolve those packets in distilled water, in the prescribed sequence.
GENERAL DATA. Working temperature of solution: 20-25°С.
Duration of the first zincate treatment: 25-30 seconds. Duration of treatment with clarifying solution: 5-10 seconds. Duration of the second zincate treatment: 10-20 seconds. The process is completed when the aluminium surface is covered with a uniform grey zinc deposition. The exhaust of zincate activator solution may be accompanied by noticeable gas emissions from the aluminium surface. In this case, add chemical "zincate salt" to the solution, or mix fresh solution.
